When someone holds a special place in your heart and passes away unexpectedly, you want to do something special to keep their legacy and memory alive. When we suddenly lost our dear husband and father on May 22, 2015, we realized losing him impacted not only our lives but the lives of many in and around the City of Annapolis.

Of the many things important to Shelley, such as providing for his family and always living a whole and joyful life, he found great joy in serving and giving back to his community, especially working with and helping youth.

Affectionately known as Detective White in the City of Annapolis, Shelley never met a stranger, and he had a smile that lit up the room. He was a man of great enthusiasm and a personality that made you think you were his closest friend. Shelley was always willing to help those in need and did everything he could to make everyone he encountered smile.

Education is a gift that lasts a lifetime, and we believe the creation of the Shelley C. White, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a meaningful way to honor Shelley’s life while carrying on his legacy forward to future generations of students.

In honor of Shelley’s dedication to his community, the organization awards college scholarships to graduating seniors in Anne Arundel County. As the foundation continues to grow, the legacy of Shelley C. White, Jr. will be carried on through the education of the youth we serve.

Those who knew Shelley, Jr. will never forget him for his smile and vibrant personality. No matter what was happening in his life, he was always positive and encouraging to those around him.

Shelley’s legacy lives on by the impact he had on everyone who was lucky enough to have met him.
